Paris Fashion Week is still underway but I cannot resist to write about the leather dress emerging from the catwalk shows around the most prominent fashion cities in the world.
Calvin Klein and Felipe Oliveria Baptista (vogue.it) |
We all know these are challenging times which demand the development of a thick skin and some designers have done just that, covering up the woman in leather which maintains the body's temperature isolating it from the outside environment.
Versace and Ermanno Scervino (vogue.it) |
The leather dress is being revamped and assumes different shapes and forms, from the simplicity of Calvin Klein to the Gothic influence of Versace and Gareth Pugh.
Gareth Pugh and Mugler (vogue.it) |
Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga's stylist and the Creative Director of Mugler has used leather to produce a pattern enhancing the female form, it's not a protective skin but an embellishment with a warrior feel to it.
Michael Kors and Ermanno Scervino (vogue.it) |
Michael Kors has presented a delicate and romantic version while Ermanno Scervino has decided to create a statement with a green leather dress. But my favourite of all is this simple but sophisticated interpretation by Sportmax.
