Top Statement Necklaces

One of the most ancient pieces of jewellery takes centre stage in fashion: the necklace. It's the style signature of Anna Wintour, the British-born editor-in-chief of American Vogue.

In Ancient Greece, women wore beautiful gold necklaces with precious stones and today different designers give them their own interpretation. In its recently launched online site, Christian Dior produced an artistic video to introduce the new 'Mise en Dior' pearl necklace.

Miuccia Prada chose a gorgeous necklace with roses for her latest advertising campaign, giving a feminine touch to the whole look.

In one of the greatest shows for Spring Summer 2012, Lanvin has created fantastic necklaces that can only be described as fashion statements, from glittering snakes embracing the body until the neck to bird inspired pieces.

I also have to mention the designer who is putting a necklace around very stylish people's neck including Lulu Kennedy, founder of Fashion East and Samantha Cameron, a keen supporter of British designers. If you haven't guessed yet, it's Holly Fulton.

It's a powerful embellishment which brings an edge to any outfit and if you like bold pieces, I would suggest Maria Francesca Pepe who has a collection entirely produced by Italian artisans and puts a raw energy into her creations.

It's worth investing in something you truly love and see yourself wearing for years but not everyone can afford designer necklaces, if that's your case check out Les Néreides. They have truly inspiring pieces at different price ranges!

It's a family business which is all about fantasy and emotion, born from a couple's love for jewellery and travel experiences.
