Golden Globes Style

There was much anticipation last night about the Golden Globes for all those involved with the film industry, to receive an award is a valuable recognition with positive consequences for the future. But for the fashion world this event is also a powerful boost as everyone wants to see their favourite film stars looking beautiful and glamorous.

The red carpet was as eagerly awaited as the ceremony itself with the fashion media and bloggers alike staying up late to report about the Golden Globes on Twitter and publish the first photos of the stars. Regarding this year's style, the sparkling strapless dress was a favourite amongst actresses such as Anne Hathaway, who won an award for her best supporting role in Les Misérables.

Although the long gown was definitely the most seen on the red carpet, stars with a bold attitude were confident enough to venture into different lengths, showing off their legs in a more or less subtle way.

Claire Danes (Versace), Jessica Chastain (Calvin Klein Collection) and Katharine McPhee (Theyskens' Theory)

Claire Danes, who won a television award for best actress in Homeland chose an halterneck gown by Versace, a style also favoured by Katharine McPhee and Jessica Chastain, who received a Golden Globe for best actress in Zero, Dark, Thirty.

Jennifer Lawrence (Christian Dior Couture) and Lucy Liu (Carolina Herrera)

The Cinderella dress reminiscent of ancient balls also made an appearance on the red carpet. Lucy Liu was the embodiment of spring with a floral gown while Jennifer Lawrence chose Christian Dior Couture and looked particularly radiant after winning her best actress award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

Jennifer Lopez (Zuhair Murad), Emily Blunt (Michael Kors) and Amanda Seyfried (Givenchy Haute Couture)

Lace continues to be trendy, it adds a sense of refinement and elegance to a gown and it can be extremely sexy, Jennifer Lopez looks amazing! It's important to mention this year's ceremony awarded the talent of Adele for best original song for Skyfall. She dedicated the trophy to her boyfriend and her son.

Kate Hudson (Alexander McQueen), Naomi Watts (Zac Posen) and Julianne Moore (Tom Ford)

The long sleeve dresses are definitely my favourite, Naomi Watts looked ravishing in a beautiful Zac Posen gown! Julianne Moore was also a vision of elegance in Tom Ford. She was one of the winners of the evening, taking home a television award for best actress in Game Change

Eva Longoria (Emilio Pucci), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Yves Saint Laurent) and Halle Berry (Atelier Versace)

Angelina Jolie, who caused a sensation with a split leg dress on the red carpet, seemed to have inspired other actresses to use the same trick. This revealing detail gives an edge to a long dress and it never fails to impress. Another popular style in this year's Golden Globes was the fishtale dress. Overall, the evening was another crowing moment not only for the film industry but also for fashion as a whole.
