Summer Festival Style

With two fantastic summer festivals starting this week - Sónar in Barcelona and Lovebox here in London - this is the time to think about what to wear and prepare to celebrate music's ability to connect people from different countries and sociocultural backgrounds.

D&GDKNY and Matthew Williamson

A loose fit dress is stylish and comfortable. Coco Chanel set women free in the 20s with her unique way of letting the body move freely without any constraints and this approach is still valid today, particularly for a summer festival where you can dance, jump and walk for hours.

Easton Pearson, Zadig & Voltaire and Colette

But for women who cannot let go of their feminine side, there are a few romantic dresses which can also be fun to wear in a festival, such as this polka dot dress by Australian designer Easton Pearson, which brings to mind Yayoi Kusama's art work.

Top: Stella McCartney, shorts: Zadig & Voltaire

Denim shorts are also a favourite amongst the summer festival's crowd, many celebrities are photographed wearing them and looking amazing, but please bear in mind this style is only right for women with great legs.

Top: McQ by Alexander McQueen, skirt: Zadig & Voltaire

If you wish to reinforce mother nature's blessing, body pump, swimming and running are great to shape and tonify your legs. But the most important thing is for you to have a good time without being self-conscious, so if in doubt just wear jeans.

Trench: Burberry Prorsum, denim jacket: Moschino, belt bag: Ralph Lauren

The best way to carry your belongings is with a belt bag, you can only fit the bare essentials but you're free to lift up your arms in the air while dancing away. Depending of whether you're in London or Barcelona, take either a hooded trench coat or a denim jacket to cover up, if need be.

Sandals: Sergio Rossi, sneakers: Burberry, wellington boots: Office

For your feet, sneakers are ideal to dance but if it is too hot in Barcelona you can also wear sandals and if it's raining in London, wellington boots are definitely more appropriate.

Dior, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Dior

But let's hope for sunshine in both cities because the summer festival look wouldn't be complete without stylish sunglasses! You can also add a splash of colour to your nails with fabulous Mini Colours by Mavala, my absolute favourite! Have fun!

Mavala Mini Colours: Lagoon, Marine, Pure, Gold, Alexandria and Ruby
