Fashion Trade Shows

Today it was all about business in London with the opening of two different fashion trade shows, Pure and Scoop International.

WGSN presentation by Lorna Hall (Head of Retail) at Pure London

WGSN, the leading online fashion trend-analysis and research service, is presenting at Pure London Womenswear trend seminars for A/W 12/13 aimed at retailers, with tips about how to increase sales.

Hyperculture refers to the influence of Africa, China and the Middle East and is depicted through bold colours and clashing prints. The body is embellished with printed tailored trousers, long pencil or maxi skirts and metallic fabrics.

Radical Neutrality plays up with androgynous dressing and quiet minimalism in soft round shapes wrapped around the body and simple designed pieces in a soft colour palette. It's neutral but with something unexpected going on.

Eco Hedonism is all about dramatic looks, from dark and heavy to light and ethereal. Autumn colours inspired by nature bring to life organic prints and patterns in sharp tailoring and angular lines. From feather finishes to faux fur, there is an otherworldly feel and soft tactility to this trend, where texture plays a pivotal role.

These were the key trends identified by WGSN applied to formalwear, casualwear and occasionwear. But we can all benefit from this information when considering what to invest on and what to bring back from the corner of our wardrobe.

Pure London means big business for retailers and many brands use this opportunity to attract new buyers and increase their awareness within the industry.

Scoop International aims at the same result but has a totally different concept, it's London's newest and most directional boutique fashion trade show.

Brands are carefully selected, there is room to breath and enough space for your mind to go through the different products and collections without getting overloaded.

The third edition of Scoop has been curated around the Saatchi Gallery's  current exhibition Gesamtkunstwerk: New art from Germany. It is a pleasant buying experience and a fusion between fashion and art.

Scoop International also features Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collections. Beautiful Bella Freud knitwear, Chanel jewellery, stylish fashion accessories and lifestyle labels can offer different solutions to each boutique specific needs.

For instance, Bagllerina is an accessory composed of a pair of all leather folding ballerinas and a matching leather pouch. It's ideal for going out, you can carry on dancing all night and put your high heels in the cloakroom.

Ela Stone (jewellery) and Robert Clergerie, Scoop International

This is definitely an appetiser for London Fashion Week which will start in a few days. I can't wait for all the shows, presentations and events!
