Summer Blues

We associate summer with heat, bright sunlight and outdoors living... But all this becomes wishful thinking in London, fortunately there's enough going on to push away the dark clouds. Sarah Jessica Parker is designing a shoe collection in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik so high heels will elevate into a whole new level with the most stylish woman on the planet!

Most retailers are already on sale and we all love a good bargain, just make sure you think about what's already on your wardrobe without getting carried away by impulses. The first days are the best when it's still possible to find the most popular sizes and the most recent collection in store. Invest in a few quality pieces you love enough to wear again and again. You don't want to end up with enough merchandise to open a store!

Be inspired by amazing photography or any other creative area with a coffee table tome. Taschen is having a sale of 50-75% off on display and slightly damaged books (June 20-23). To get away from the sales rush, take time off to immerse yourself in the contemporary art world at the Royal Academy of Arts, which is showcasing its legendary Summer Exhibition.

For all fashion aficionados there's something to look forward to and worth noting down on your diary: the Design Museum will takes us into the world of Paul Smith in November, drawing on his personal archive and offering a unique insight into his company's lasting success. 'Hello, My Names is Paul Smith' will celebrate the brand through collections, projections, books, audio and film clips.

If none of this gets you excited, don't worry it's just the lack of sunlight. Think of your summer holiday elsewhere and enjoy the company of your loved ones while you're here. Go out with your friends to a tapas bar and picture yourself in Ibiza over a glass of sangria! Or go to a cool place such as Caravan and think where else in the world would you get such an eclectic bunch of stylish people?
